Kongee’s Iran Trip Report Part 2

Iran Open 2001 was the first official WCA competition and attended by 2 delegates, myself from Malaysia and Ron van Bruchem from Netherlands. There were 10 events in this competition where the locals could set their first national record. The day before competition, the committees really put a lot of effort in making the competition to happen. All competitors will get a shirt, badge, bag, nametag and participation certificate.

The hall was indeed marvelous with slanted row of  audience seats, just like in the cinema. It was fully equipped with 2 big LCD screens and overhead projector which were suitable for livescore display. More than 200 people turned up for the competition and some of them came all the way to Tehran from other cities such as Shiraz, Esfahan, etc.

Despite of creating personal official records, cubing is all about FUN. I enjoyed a lot through these 2 days. Most of the participants and even the committees barely speak English but that was not an excuse for not making friend with them ;) Remember that i talked about how friendly they were? Yes, they were. For more details about the competition especially the result, you can check it here. Congrats to Armin Solemani for winning 1st in Rubik’s Cube event!

Anyway, i won in Rubik’s Clock event!
