Review: YoYoFactory WhiP
The YoYoFactory WhiP drops into stores worldwide a lot while ago. Some call it “A true game changer” and some says “Its the dawn of a whole new masses of modern unresponsive play” as this yo-yo is targeted at beginners moving to advance modern play style. For the price of a beginner yoyo, this has been a much talked about yoyo and i shall now give it a brief review about them.
* can’t get enough of the fun colored WhiP out of the box *
The box itself comes in a rainbow of repetitive “WhiP”, its almost like a bunch of statics u see on TV when there’s no transmission except the statics are screaming out “WhiP”. That’s a really fun and happy design on the box. Push that aside, the yoyo comes in 5 vibrant colors : red, black, blue, green and white.
* comes in 5 power whippy colors, choose ur WhiP*
Shape: H-profile
Material: Plastic
Weight: 56.20g
Diameter: 54.19mm
Width: 40.97mm
Bearing size: Large Bearing size C
There are no caps on the side of the yoyo, making the nubs visible. First impression, it looks almost exactly like a grind machine except that it doesn’t comes with hubstacks and metal weights. First throw was pretty impressive, it almost feels like any other unresponsive yoyos just a lot lighter. This yoyo is rim weighted like any other H-profile shaped yoyos, giving more stability in throws; a good choice for beginners. The fact that its plastic, it kinda gives a whole lot more confidence and less worries when it comes to throwing up some tricks and combos. With a diameter of 54.19mm, i would not call it an undersize yoyo.
* comes with a single YYF Spec Large bearing size C *
* shape almost like a grindmachine *
* size comparison when held on hands *
In comparison with the line of affordable beginner unresponsive throws, the WhiP is slightly more heavier (compared to YYF One) giving it a longer spin time, minimal vibe and better stability. Although i do wish its slightly heavier by 3-4 grams more so that it could spin longer. The beadblasted finishing on the plastic is good for grinds and gives a solid feel when held on the hands.
Unfortunately with the fat high walls, this yoyo aren’t great at pulling off horizontal tricks. Apart from that, its all good. This is really a fun looking yoyo, comes with great vibrant colors and a solid sturdy plastic. Definitely a yoyo to build up confidence in all your throws and not a problem when it comes to choosing the right yoyo for your wardrobe as its so affordable, you could get the whole range of colors to match your clothing style everyday.
Pro: Smooth, stable and fast. Good for grinds and whips.
Con: Doesn’t spin long enough. Bad for horizontal tricks.
Overall: If you are looking for something cheap and a durable unresponsive yoyo as a beginner, this is the perfect yoyo for you.
